Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences Job ID: 296962 Location: Augusta University Full/Part Time: Full Time Job Summary The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Department of Biological Sciences at Augusta University invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. The role involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Biological Sciences, engaging in scholarly activities that involve undergraduate majors, and providing service to the university through committees and campaigns. This is a non‑tenure track position. Responsibilities Teaching (80%) – Deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Biological Sciences, including grading, office hours, course preparation, and adherence to university teaching policies. Scholarship (10%) – Conduct persistent scholarship that achieves national/international recognition, measured through publications and presentations in the field. Service (10%) – Provide service to Augusta University and the profession, including roles on departmental, college, and university committees and broader leadership activities. Required Qualifications Ph.D. or terminal degree in a Biological Science discipline with expertise to teach courses such as Principles of Biology, Environmental Biology, and/or Anatomy & Physiology. Early level career as an Assistant Professor. Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation. Evidence of teaching ability. Evidence of scholarly activity and ability to perform additional duties. Successful experience (waived for new faculty meeting other criteria). Desirable personal qualities assessed through interview, biographical data, and recommendations. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Biology at the undergraduate/college level and coordinating courses and instructional laboratories. Shift, Salary, and Benefits This full‑time position is fiscal year based and works year‑round (FTE 1.0). Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to fund availability.
