Construction Manager

Construction Manager The position of construction manager consists of planning, directing, budgeting, and the direct supervision of project managers and field staff personnel on multiple projects. Construction managers are also responsible for business development and growing market share within the region. They work with management to obtain maximum efficiency and economy of operations as well as maximizing profits. Construction managers serve as a company representative to the community and support regional and corporate initiatives as needed. They work closely with safety, environmental, and human resources team leaders to develop a safe and great place to work in order to create an environment that attracts and retains employees. Responsibilities Review proposal specifications, drawings, pre-bid meetings and visit project sites to determine scope of work required in preparing bid/estimate proposal. Determine labor, equipment and material requirements to complete project and use information to prepare bid/estimate proposal. Provide leadership and guidance to project managers to ensure projects are constructed according to the contracted timeframe along with oversight on job costing and ensuring the final project meets the owner's expectations. Ensure the completion of estimates and proposals are thoroughly reviewed and submitted on time. Review and provide guidance on monthly WIP. Communicate and coordinate with senior management and field leadership, establishing project objectives, procedures, schedules and performance requirements. Provide indirect or direct supervision of field crew members, foremen or superintendents. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors. Lead and assist with business development pursuits. Develop and execute a strategy to grow market share in construction. Provide construction site reviews, including daily site inspections, to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards, and codes. Ensure proper planning and execution of work to ensure the safety of the workforce and mitigate risk. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Women, veterans and minorities are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of estimating and project management experience in the heavy civil industry. Construction management or civil engineering degree is preferred. Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong understanding of HCSS and scheduling software is preferred. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team‑oriented work environment.
