Senior Associate – Trusts & Estates (6+ Years’ Experience)

About the Opportunity

Our Trusts & Estates practice is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate with 6+ years of experience to join a dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate brings exceptional drafting capabilities, deep attention to detail, and a genuine interest in sophisticated estate planning and additionally, has experience with Surrogate’s Court practice and estate/trust administration. An LL.M. in Taxation is strongly preferred and will be viewed favorably.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and refine complex estate planning instruments, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and related documents
  • Guide clients and fiduciaries through the full lifecycle of estate and trust administration, including probate matters, fiduciary accounting, and asset marshaling and distribution
  • Conduct research and prepare memoranda addressing estate, gift, GST, and income tax considerations
  • Support partners on planning engagements for high-net-worth individuals and families, with particular focus on tax-efficient wealth transfer and succession strategies
  • Manage client communications with professionalism and clarity, collaborating closely with fiduciaries, financial advisors, and other professional partners
  • Contribute to team development by mentoring junior associates and supporting practice initiatives where appropriate

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in trusts, estates and taxation practice at a law firm
  • LL.M. in Taxation preferred
  • Licensed to practice law in New York; New Jersey and/or Florida strongly preferred in addition to New York.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package of $190,000-$240,000, discretionary bonuses, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k), and ongoing professional development support.
