Safety Coordinator Location: Hilliard, OH Start Date: ASAP Duration: Approximately 2 Months Employment Type: 1099 Contractor Compensation Pay Rate: $48 to $50 per hour Per Diem: Not available Pay Schedule: Weekly Work Schedule Hours: Approximately 60 hours per week Schedule: Monday through Saturday Shift: Day shift, 10-hour shifts Project Overview We are seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support a fast-paced mechanical construction project in Hilliard, Ohio. This short-term assignment will provide field safety oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection installation activities. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with project leadership, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel to identify hazards, reinforce site safety expectations, and help ensure work is completed in accordance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements. This position requires a visible field presence, strong communication skills, and the ability to address safety concerns without disrupting project productivity. The selected contractor must be comfortable working six days per week in an active construction environment. Primary Responsibilities Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, audits, and field observations Monitor HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection activities for safety compliance Identify, document, communicate, and follow up on unsafe conditions or work practices Support daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations Verify proper PPE use and compliance with site-specific safety procedures Assist with contractor and subcontractor safety coordination Review job hazard analyses, JSAs, and other activity-specific safety documentation Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses Track corrective actions through completion Maintain accurate inspection reports, safety logs, and project documentation Reinforce OSHA requirements and project safety expectations with field personnel Partner with project leadership to promote accountability and a proactive safety culture Required Qualifications OSHA 510 certification Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience Previous experience supporting mechanical construction projects Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection operations Strong understanding of OSHA construction standards and safe work practices Experience conducting inspections, documenting hazards, and managing corrective actions Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with project leadership and field teams Additional Requirements Ability to work approximately 60 hours per week, Monday through Saturday Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and navigate an active construction site Ability to communicate professionally and confidently with subcontractors and craft personnel Strong attention to detail and consistent documentation practices Ability to respond promptly to changing jobsite conditions and safety concerns Must be authorized and prepared to work as a 1099 independent contractor Must be available to begin the assignment as soon as possible Preferred Experience Mechanical piping and equipment installation HVAC and ductwork installation Plumbing systems Fire protection and sprinkler systems Elevated work and mobile equipment Material handling and lifting activities Contractor safety coordination Incident and near-miss investigations Core Skills Construction Safety | OSHA Compliance | Mechanical Construction Safety | Hazard Recognition | Jobsite Inspections | Incident Investigation | Risk Assessment | Corrective Action Management | Safety Documentation | Contractor Coordination | Toolbox Talks | Field Communication Equal Opportunity Employer We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
