Transportation Van Driver

Responsible for the safe operation of a school van (less than 16 driver/passengers) while transporting students to assigned locations. May assist students while loading and unloading a vehicle.

Operates vehicles in a safe manner and in keeping with applicable driving laws. Reports problems with vehicle and/or driving hazards to supervisor.

Responsible for the safety and security of assigned students while transporting to various locations.

Ensures that the vehicle is properly cleaned and maintained; keeps vehicle hazard free, cooperates to keep co-workers and students safe.

Works safely within established guidelines for safe lifting techniques.

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule.

May assist, as necessary, in other areas of transportation.

Performs all job assignments in a safe and responsible way at all times. Presents a neat, clean, and appropriately dressed manner. The ability to work in a collaborative team environment is essential to the employee's successful job performance. Must be a high school graduate, or have a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). Previous experience with transporting passengers or light truck delivery desired.

Valid Vermont Driver's License with clean record. CDL preferred, but not required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate (CPR); Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) certificate; and First Aid Certification is required. Drivers must qualify for a DOT medical card.

Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students, staff, and others by demonstrating patience, kindness, and courtesy. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass state driver's license skill test. Ability to manage students and equipment. Ability to observe student behavior and advise supervisors of concerns and/or issues. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies as they relate to the job responsibilities is essential.
