Paraprofessional, Academic Success - Writing and Communication

Overview Paraprofessional – Academic Success – Writing and Communication (part-time) provides tutoring for students, mentors new tutors, assists with workshops and training, and conducts outreach. Location options include Sanford/Lake Mary or Oviedo, with assignments varying by need. Responsibilities Provides individual and small group tutoring for students. Mentors new tutors. Assists with development and delivery of workshops and training. Conducts information sessions to promote the services of the Academic Success/STAR Center. Maintains the professional operations of the Academic Success/STAR Center. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Desired Qualifications Associate of Arts degree from an accredited institution. Experience tutoring or teaching. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor. Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment. Work Environment And Special Considerations Works inside in an office or laboratory. Hours will vary (days, evenings, and weekends), up to twenty-six hours per week during fall and spring semesters. Summer assignments may be less than twenty hours per week based on need. Campus locations vary based on need. This description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed.
