PRN Certified Nursing AssistantTownsen Memorial Surgery Center - River Oaks is looking for a PRN Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team! The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for admitting the patient to the clinical area and providing nursing care to the pre-operative patient, as well as, developing a nursing care plan specifically designed for the individual patient. The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.Essential Functions:Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working orderAssists with admitting the patient to the unit and prepares him/her for the scheduled procedureCompletes patient care responsibilities in a timely manner with accurate documentationImplements doctor's orders in a timely and accurate mannerEducates patients and familyProvides patient and family members emotional support as necessaryDocuments patient care delivered, accurately in the medical recordMaintains established Center/Departmental policies and proceduresMaintains confidentiality of patient and Center related businessDevelops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and center employeesDocuments concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policyParticipates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and Center businessPerforms other related duties as assignKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Practices nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Texas and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actionsKnowledge of vital sign monitor operation • Basic knowledge and understanding of nursing diagnosisKnowledge of Principles of Standard PrecautionsKnowledge of Nursing care for the post-surgical patientPossesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursingAbility to adapt to unexpected changes, effectively acclimate to various work schedules to achieve high quality of careAbility to respond quickly, physically, and mentally when priorities and/or the patient's condition changesAbility to use a structured format for regular communication with patients and familyAbility to use downtime effectively, help and respond positively to request for assistance from team membersCompliance with facility policies and proceduresCompliance with continuing and mandatory education programsEducation and Experience:Graduate of an accredited school and certification (CNA)One (1) year of experience in a clinical settingBasic Life Support (BLS) certified
