CAD Designer

Creative Circle

CAD Designer (Exhibit / Temporary Structures)
Onsite - Whitinsville, MA

About the Role

This position is critical in translating creative concepts into precise construction drawings and production-ready documentation.

Important: This is not a traditional architectural role. Candidates must have hands-on experience creating drawings for temporary, modular, or exhibit-based structures-not permanent buildings or residential construction.

What You'll Do

  • Produce accurate shop and construction drawings for custom exhibit components
  • Create detailed setup prints, including booth and property layouts, electrical and networking requirements, hanging banner placements, and carpet/flooring layouts
  • Develop 3D part files for CNC router production
  • Participate in production launch meetings and provide technical expertise
  • Review and validate 3D renderings, design concepts, and engineering drawings to ensure feasibility and quality
  • Establish timelines for production drawings, floor plans, and setup documents
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to gather necessary project details
  • Assist across projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, and fabrication methods
  • Research and source materials and solutions aligned with design requirements

Required Experience & Skills

  • Required: Experience drafting and designing temporary structures (trade show exhibits, event environments, modular builds, etc.)
  • Candidates with only architectural, residential, or permanent structure experience will not be considered
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (2018 or later)
  • Strong 3D modeling skills using AutoCAD or similar tools (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks)
  • Ability to communicate technical details through elevations, isometric views, and exploded diagrams
  • Experience producing shop drawings for fabrication (exhibit, millwork, or woodworking industries strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods for custom, fast-turn builds
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with high accuracy
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet project timelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exhibit, trade show, millwork, or fabrication industry background
  • Familiarity with CNC production processes

Application Requirements
Portfolio required: Please submit examples demonstrating temporary structure or exhibit work, including 3D models and corresponding shop drawings
