Physical Therapy Aide

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed therapists and licensed therapy assistants with patient care and therapeutic activities.
• Prepares and maintains the treatment area to ensure a safe and organized environment.
• Performs clerical duties, including ordering and stocking departmental supplies.
• Transports pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients to and from therapy sessions, taking precautions to avoid aggravating any injuries or medical conditions.
• Safely transfers patients in and out of wheelchairs, beds, gurneys, and other equipment using proper body mechanics and safety techniques.
• Assists staff with patient transfers, treatments, and delivery of therapy equipment to patient rooms, as requested.
• Helps manage the therapy schedule, tracks equipment usage, and ensures daily cleaning and maintenance assignments are completed.
• Maintains high personal standards, professionalism, and positive working relationships with team members and patients.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior hospital physical therapy aide experience preferred.

• Ability to work well with others with tact and diplomacy.
• Good verbal, written, and listening skills.
• Good organizational skills are essential.
• Basic clerical skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple demands.

Licensure

• BLS healthcare provider required within three months of hire.
• For full-time PT aides at Good Sams RIO department only: Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets insurance carrier requirements for employees assigned to drive the RIO patient transport bus. Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card required once employed.

Pay Range

USD $18.47 - USD $25.01 /Hr.
