Description: Manager is open to 36 or 48-hour contracts. Facility is a Level II Trauma Center. It has a Level III NICU and is Magnet designated. The hospital has 933 beds. The CVICU unit has 30 beds. The average number of patients per day can vary. Patient types include immediate post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacement, heart transplants, pacemakers, fresh post-op esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy, and fresh post-op AAA, TVAR, carotid endarterectomy. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, and 1:3 for mixed status. A tech is available at a ratio of 1:8-10. Required skills include competency in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), and ventilator/trach management. Candidates should be able to interpret cardiac rhythms and draw from invasive lines; peripheral sticks are not allowed. Experience with EPIC is preferred. Travelers with specific CV surgical experience (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD) are preferred. Support within the department includes a charge nurse, a hospitalist, general intensivist, and dedicated CVICU intensivist available 24/7. There is telemetry monitoring available at the bedside and nurses' station, with phlebotomy assistance for peripheral blood draws. Technology used includes an EMR system, IV pumps, and various monitors. Floating may occur to other ICUs or MSU. Weekend rotation is every other week, with 1-2 holiday shifts expected per contract. RTO approval is allowed up to 7 days. Shift times are either 0700-1900 or 1900-0700. A 6-week scheduling cycle is utilized. All staff cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts. Scrub colors should be solid and professional without graphics, logos, or designs. Free parking is available with shuttle service.
