Men's and Women's Cross-Country / Long-Distance Track Head Coach, Part-Time Faculty

Position Overview Men’s and Women’s Cross‑County / Long‑Distance Track Head Coach and part‑time instructor position at Copper Mountain College. Hourly pay based on degree (see salary rates below) plus an annual coaching stipend of $14,400 (paid over 12 months). Position Description Under the administrative leadership of the district, the part‑time instructor will conduct assigned classes and support district values. As Head Coach and/or Athletic Director (as assigned), the instructor will coach and supervise the Men’s and Women’s Cross‑Country/Long‑Distance Track teams, manage the athletic program, and fulfill ancillary duties as required. Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Responsibilities Meet assigned classes and laboratories on the published schedule. Publish syllabus, maintain office hours, and advise students on course content, grading, major requirements, strategies for success, enrichment opportunities, and career prospects. Develop and implement instruction consistent with the Course Outline of Record and district standards. Prepare written syllabus per Academic Senate standards and submit as directed. Assess and advise students on progress toward course objectives. Respect student rights as outlined in district policy and applicable laws. Submit textbook adoption and instructional material requests on time. Refer students to tutoring and other student services when appropriate. Supervise students during off‑campus activities when required. Assign and submit grades by deadlines per district policy and state regulations. Maintain official records, collect data, and submit required documentation on time. Additional Responsibilities Respond to administration regarding student petitions and grievances. Adhere to district regulations on equipment use, safety, and hazard reporting. Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds. Part‑time Faculty – Ancillary Duties: Head Coach Coach and supervise the Men’s and Women’s Cross‑Country/Long‑Distance Track teams during practice, meets, and contests. Organize and administer the program, including recruiting participants from diverse student groups. Maintain a current Class B Driver License with passenger endorsement and medical card; drive student‑athletes to contests and monitor safety. Remain current on CCCAA, Conference, and Copper Mountain College rules, including completing required online tests annually. Manage home game staff, schedule contests, and oversee all program aspects. Develop and execute fundraising initiatives for the teams. Maintain active involvement in student activities, sports promotion, and the Athletic Department. Collaborate with the Counseling Department and faculty to monitor academic progress and assist with transfer programs. Attend coaching, athletics, and faculty meetings. Represent the college professionally. Schedule contests within department, CCCAA, and conference guidelines. Plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate practices, games, and related activities, focusing on athlete welfare. Travel with teams as required and ensure adherence to behavior expectations. Prepare staff and teams for competition, modeling sports‑manlike conduct. Maintain records of game results and student‑athlete achievements; promote accomplishments for awards and recognition. Provide end‑of‑season archival reports to the Athletic Director. Qualifications Education: Associate degree with 6 years of coaching experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of coaching experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field with 2 years of professional experience; Master’s degree in a life science or related field with applicable experience. Demonstrated diversity sensitivity and understanding of varied student backgrounds. Previous inter‑college cross‑country coaching experience of at least 2 years in the past 5 years. Hourly Rate (Based on Degree) PhD/EdD: $78.08/hour (Lecture), $62.90/hour (Lab). MA/MS: $75.00/hour (Lecture), $60.42/hour (Lab). BA/BS: $72.07/hour (Lecture), $58.05/hour (Lab).
