Controller Summary We are seeking an experienced Controller to take full ownership of the accounting and financial operations for a Downtown Houston Law Firm. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, with direct management of a small accounting team. Key Responsibilities Own all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial operations Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls Oversee cash flow, general ledger, reconciliations, and close processes Administer the company’s 401(k) plan, including coordination with vendors and compliance requirements Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and reporting as needed Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, tax, and audit requirements Continuously improve accounting processes and controls Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5–6+ years of experience in a Controller role Prior law firm or professional services accounting experience CPA or advanced accounting credentials (a plus, not required) Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Proven experience managing accounting staff Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines High level of accountability, reliability, and ownership #J-18808-Ljbffr Burnett Staffing Specialists
