Adheres to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation. Confidently operates radiological equipment in all care settings (i.e. fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency department and the Operating Room). Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding. Operates Imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturers specifications. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast under the American College of Radiology guidelines./liliAssists in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles./liliCommunicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients and/or patients charts to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations. Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation. Correctly identifies patients and their files while ensuring a high degree of accuracy. Tracks patients according to department procedures./liliAssists physicians in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques./liliRecognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes./li/ulpstrongRadiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) Additional Requirements:/strong/pullistrongEducation:/strong Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography/lilistrongLicensure:/strong Licensed Radiologic Technologist Upon Start Must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an Inova Health System free-standing Imaging Center not affiliated with an Inova hospital./lilistrongCertification:/strong American Registered Radiologic Technologists within 12 months of hire; Basic Life Support upon start./lilistrongExperience:/strong Two years of combined classroom and clinical training in radiology. Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist or student./li/ul/div
