Warehouse Associate

Reports To: Distribution Manager, General Manager, Store Manager, Inventory Manager, Rebuild Manager, Warehouse Supervisor Classification: Non-Exempt Date Approved/Revised: March 8, 2024 Summary The Warehouse Associate is responsible for various tasks related to warehouse and shipping operations, including but not limited to fulfilling customer orders by accurately picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment, correctly receiving and fulfilling bins of incoming shipments, performing regular precise inventory cycle counts, properly processing parts returned from customers, returning parts to vendors and the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Note: Operations may vary for each location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fulfills customer orders by accurately picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment. Utilizes the best package sizing to achieve cost-effective freight; ensures delivery as close to customer expectations as possible. Receives incoming shipments, verifies contents against packing slips/invoices, and ensures proper storage. Inspects products for damage or defects and reports any issues to the supervisor or follows proper procedures/protocol. Packages parts for parcel shipments according to company specifications. Unloads, folds, ties and palletizes rubber tracks using a forklift. Unloads and categorizes steel undercarriage parts into proper bins. Unloads, ties, palletizes and tags items, ensures items are stored in their proper locations. Assists carriers with loading as necessary – pallet loading with forklift, etc. Assists in maintaining accurate inventory records by performing regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies. Safely and efficiently operates a forklift, pallet jack or other to move materials, load and unload trucks, and stack and store items in the warehouse. Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring the forklift is operated in a safe manner. Collaborates with team members and communicates effectively with supervisors to ensure smooth warehouse operations. Ensures the warehouse is organized and items are stored in designated locations. Empties all trash, prepares for trash and recycling pick up on a weekly basis or as dictated. Notifies the Manager if any issues or discrepancies arrive with the orders or as the defined process/protocol dictates. Performs daily checks on equipment prior to operation. Weighs and measures outgoing packages to determine shipping costs. Builds pallets, crates, etc. specific to each order. Shipping Maintains Orders to Ship Report; ensures all orders are shipped and performs all transfers in SAP. Assists Counter Sales employees with shipping quotes for customers. Ships product utilizing the best package sizing to achieve the most cost-effective freight; ensures delivery as close to customer expectations as possible. Tracks packages not delivered in a timely manner or possibly lost by the carrier. Transports received product to Inventory Control Coordinator or Counter Sales Assistant. Assists carriers with loading as necessary (e.g., pallet loading with forklift). Picks the correct parts for an order-pack and for an order; ships as directed. Prepares shipping documents and labels. Schedules pickups and deliveries with carriers. Tracks shipments and communicates updates as needed. Communicates effectively with carriers, warehouse personnel, and customer service representatives. Maintains accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments. Other Performs all other duties as assigned. Complies with the requirements of the company’s ISO9001 Quality Management System (when required). Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend and kneel on a regular basis. Regular manual dexterity/coordination: hand/eye movements, motor control. Able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Employee is required to lift parts (some heavy) on a daily basis. Ability to operate/drive a pack-mule/stock chaser/forklift in a standing position. Operate computer with monitor or multiple monitors without visual impairment. Use of handheld scanners with ability to multitask. Potential Hazards Employee may be exposed to hazardous substances including a variety of petroleum-based products, cleaning solvents, etc. on a regular basis. Employee may be exposed to sharp (cutting) tools on a regular basis. Attendance – Adhere to company policies with regards to sick time and PTO. Required Education / Experience / Skills Basic knowledge of agricultural/construction equipment. Basic knowledge of weighing and labeling equipment. Basic computer experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) and shipping software such as FedEx / UPS/Speedee/PaceJet/LISA. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Preferred Education / Experience / Skills Warehouse experience preferred but not required. High school diploma a plus.
