Position Status: Full-time, Hourly Collective Bargaining Unit (PJCBC)
Shift: Daylight, Pass Days - Sunday/Monday Responsibilities/ Duties :
- Responsible for trash and organic waste collection and removal;
- Makes deliveries to departments as required;
- Responsible for special events setups and breakdowns;
- Assists the gardeners, keepers and tradesmen as required;
- Cuts grass, performs leaf removal, shovels snow and performs other outside maintenance tasks as required;
- Moves heavy furniture, boxes, equipment, tables, chairs, etc.
- Performs material handling and loading and unloading of trucks as needed;
- Operates heavy mechanical cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, snow blowers, buffers, etc,;
- Operates complex, off-the-road motorized equipment;
- Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel and other related tasks and duties as assigned.
- Provides "wild service" when interacting with visitors and staff.
- Participates in Zoo functions as required.
- Participates in educational trade classes as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent and one to three years' experience is preferred;
- Ability to read, write and communicate at a level that enables the individual to perform essential functions;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds chest height;
- Position may have to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Shift is daylight, also requiring availability on weekends and holidays.
- Valid PA driver's license required at all times; annual verification must be provided;
- Must be able to drive utility cart, utility van (small to large) and dump truck (one ton and less);
- Position is physically demanding requiring the ability to walk, stand, lift, push, pull, carry, bend, stoop, twist, etc.
