Reporting to the Senior Director of Spiritual Care for MSHS, the Program Manager provides operational, administrative, and program management support for the Department of Spiritual Care and Education at The Mount Sinai Hospital, with defined responsibilities that support spiritual care services across the Mount Sinai Health System. Based at MSH, the Program Manager leads and coordinates key spiritual care functions, including but not limited to coverage and scheduling; the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program; staff support initiatives for hospital employees; onboarding of staff, students, and volunteers; cross-departmental partnerships; data and reporting activities; and vendor and contract management. The role contributes to the design and maintenance of efficient operational workflows, supports regulatory and accreditation requirements for departmental programs, and helps promote timely, high-quality, and well-coordinated spiritual care services.
Responsibilities- Manages daily operations for the Department of Spiritual Care and Education at The Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH), and provides operational support to spiritual care departments across MSHS as assigned.
- Serves as the central coordination point for spiritual care service requests during business hours, triaging consults and collaborating with spiritual care leaders, chaplains, and clinical teams to support timely response.
- Manages the MSHS‑wide spiritual care overnight and weekend on‑call schedule, including coordination with per diem chaplains and vendors, and oversight of related timekeeping and payment processes.
- Serves as registrar for the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program, including intake and review of applications, scheduling of interviews, maintenance of records, and support for compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinates onboarding for staff, students, and volunteers at The Mount Sinai Hospital, and supports onboarding at other MSHS sites as needed, working with HR and IT partners to ensure completion of required training, documentation, and system access.
- Manages spiritual care office operations at MSH, including space, equipment, and general office and program supplies, and partners with internal departments and external vendors to ensure the availability of necessary materials and services at MSH and other MSHS sites as needed
- Plans, coordinates, and supports staff support initiatives delivered by chaplains and partners in response to requests from hospital units and departments (such as on‑unit support encounters or observance‑related offerings), and collaborates with chaplains, volunteers, and interdisciplinary colleagues to ensure timely, effective, and well‑coordinated support for hospital staff
- Manages contracts and relationships with vendors that support departmental operations; ensures timely processing of invoices and routine expenses in accordance with MSHS policies and procedures. Supports monitoring of program and vendor‑related expenses; prepares summaries or reports for departmental leadership as requested to support responsible use of resources.
- Oversees collection, organization, and basic analysis of departmental data (e.g., consult volume, staffing and on‑call activity, program participation), and partners with department leaders at MSH and other sites to track trends and progress toward goals.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and communication of departmental policies, procedures, and standard work, in alignment with hospital and health system requirements.
- Plans and coordinates departmental and discipline-specific events, including Clinical Pastoral Education graduations and other Spiritual Care and Education programming, ensuring effective logistics, communication, and engagement.
- Acts as a liaison with colleagues in other clinical, operational, and administrative departments to coordinate program activities, optimize workflows, and support the integration of spiritual care within clinical operations
- Supports departmental and health system initiatives related to quality, patient experience, staff well‑being, education, and community engagement, as assigned by the Senior Director. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or a combination of applicable experience and education
- 3+ years experience (5 preferred), managing and administrating program activities for assigned area

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64526.72 - $105000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
