Satellite Systems Software Engineer (Starlink)

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable and available software systems for managing thousands of satellites in low-Earth orbit.
• Own software design, development, testing, rollout, and interactions with surrounding hardware and environments.
• Design software for spacecraft and the ground systems that support them.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers to plan and organize product development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another science discipline plus at least 1 year of professional software development experience, or 3+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• Internship experience may be applicable toward the experience requirement.
• Experience with Python or C++ and Linux programming is preferred.
• Experience with distributed systems or large-scale consumer internet systems is preferred.
• Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies is preferred.
• Understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring is preferred.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB is preferred.
• Previous satellite or spacecraft systems experience is a plus.
• Must meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.
• Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
