About the Position

Job Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 Shift: Day 5x8-Hour Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience License: None specified Certifications: BLS, CST Must-Have: - BLS certification - CST certification - At least 1 year of experience - Ability to occasionally float to HOPD (ASC) - Call required: Approximately 4-5 days per month, including weekends Description: Assists surgeons in various surgeries or procedures. Determines needs of the surgeons consistently to achieve quality patient care. Establishes and maintains a sterile field, including sterile tables, tools, and patient draping. Selects and prepares necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure. Checks supplies and equipment for working order. Completes routine and priority tasks within established departmental time frames. May perform clerical tasks such as retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health records. Prepares and completes documentation related to supply inventory and orders new supplies when necessary. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment. Ensures the operating room is clean before and after procedures. Inspects and calibrates equipment accordingly for proper operation. Records quality control results and reports any malfunctions. Maintains strict confidentiality of all patients’ protected health information (PHI). Protects PHI from accidental or intentional disclosure. Performs work in compliance with departmental standards, policies, and procedures. Delivers the highest level of patient safety and care. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a scrub tech. General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, and equipment. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions. Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Possesses written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly. Well-developed time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures. General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Identifies, evaluates, and resolves standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions. Builds collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers.
