Why Work With Us Local autonomy with national support Career mobility and development opportunities A collaborative, inclusive environment where your wellbeing comes first Role Overview Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) provide patient care for medical and surgical patients at Columbia River Veterinary Specialists (CRVS). They work in all areas of the hospital, including patient care, anesthetic induction and monitoring, and leading in the hospital. LVTs assist the DVM in organizing patient flow, monitoring treatments, and acting as the Charge Nurse in their respective areas when appropriate. At CRVS, we handle high volumes of critical and emergent patients, requiring skills to manage aggressive patients and communicate effectively with distressed owners. Responsibilities & Key Skills Act as charge nurse in respective department/area. Provide excellent documentation including client communications, treatments, anesthetic monitoring, and controlled drug logs (Cubex). Give clear, concise rounds with relevant patient information. Educate other staff members with your skills/knowledge whenever possible. Proficient in phlebotomy, cystocentesis, canine urinary catheter placement and NG tube placement. Perform treatments/fluid therapy when given a dose. Perform CPR, including chest compressions, intubation, and breath administration; direct others during a code. Collect vital, pertinent information from distraught owners when patients are critical. Perform advanced laboratory skills including cell morphology review, urine dry prep slide review, and fecal review. Excellent/effective triage skills, including communicating patient status and treatments to clients. Perform phone triage confidently, kindly, and effectively with clients. Start immediate stabilization on patients under doctor direction. Understand relevant CBC/CHEM values and use of medications, including common doses and contraindications. Perform blood transfusion therapy, including collection, administration, and monitoring transfusion reactions. Perform albumin/plasma transfusion therapy and monitor for reactions. Identify obvious murmurs, arrhythmias, and pulse deficits. Excellent anesthetic skills with knowledge of side effects and immediate actions necessary to combat them. Monitor and record sedation/anesthetic events with confidence. Signing Bonus Eligibility Must commit to a full‑time schedule. Requires a 1‑year commitment; bonus is subject to repayment if employment ends before the 1‑year anniversary. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Licensed Veterinary Technician in Washington or ability to become licensed in Washington within 90 days of hire. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs. Ability to withstand long hours of standing, squatting, kneeling, and walking. Basic computer skills. Adaptability to an ever‑changing work environment. Maintain objectivity during highly stressful/emotional situations. Keep a positive and professional demeanor during interactions with clients and team members, leading by example. Schedule Overnight shifts: 6 PM–6 PM Sunday–Tuesday, 8 PM–8 AM Thursday–Saturday. Part‑time schedules will be considered. Benefits & Compensation Competitive hourly wage.
