Operating Room Registered Nurse

Edgewood Surgical Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in The Operating Room. The circulating nurse is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure and providing care to patients before, during, and after surgery. It’s a multi-faceted role and requires critical thinking, excellent communication, and clinical judgement. We have four operating rooms and one special procedure room. We primarily perform the following surgeries: orthopedic surgery, cataract surgery, vitrectomies, and pain procedures. OR RN job summary: Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies Ensure all surgical instruments are sterilized and functioning Monitor the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment Assist in positioning the patient safely before the surgery Verify patient information and surgical site before the procedure begins Document all aspects of the surgical procedure in the patient’s chart Coordinate with anesthesia providers to ensure patient safety Manage the flow of the operating room and anticipate the surgical team’s needs Handle specimens taken during surgery and ensure proper labeling and documentation Provide emotional support to patients and their families before and after surgery Circulating Nurse Qualifications & Skills: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS) certification Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Pennsylvania Experience in operating room or surgical nursing Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Commitment to continuing education and professional development Strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical procedures Familiarity with regional and general anesthesia techniques Adherence to hospital policies and procedures Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off #J-18808-Ljbffr Edgewood Surgical Center
