Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Behavior Specialist King Philip Regional School District – Norfolk, Massachusetts Job Details Job ID: 5822178 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jul 08, 2026 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full‑time Salary: $80,000 to $110,000 per year Job Description The District‑Wide Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides leadership, consultation, and behavioral expertise to support students’ social‑emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning. This position ensures that all students receive the behavior support needed to be successful in their learning endeavors in accordance with State and Federal Special Education Laws and Regulations. The BCBA plays a key role in aligning behavioral practices with Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and special education compliance. The BCBA functions as a systems‑level consultant, capacity builder, and problem‑solving resource, collaborating closely with administrators, educators, families, and related service providers. This position requires a flexible schedule that includes work during the district’s Extended School Year Program (ESY) to ensure continuity of behavioral supports and maintenance of student progress in accordance with Federal and State laws. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and related evaluations in compliance with IDEA and Massachusetts regulations (Tier 2 & Tier 3). Develop IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans that embed neurodiversity‑affirming practices, designing strengths‑focused goals and using assent‑based approaches that prioritize a student’s autonomy and dignity. Provide direct and consultative intervention for students with significant social‑emotional or behavioral needs, including school refusal, emotional dysregulation, aggression, and avoidance behaviors. Coach staff with consultation, coaching, and modeling to support the implementation of individualized behavior plans and evidence‑based strategies in classroom and non‑classroom settings. Serve as a key contributor to district MTSS and PBIS frameworks, analyzing school‑wide behavior data to identify trends and opportunities for prevention; collaborate with administrators to reduce exclusionary or compliance‑based practices and address disproportionate discipline through positive behavioral supports. Attend TEAM meetings, re‑evaluations, manifestation determinations, and Student Support Team meetings. Consult with special education teachers and related providers to develop IEP recommendations for adaptive behavior goals and services. Develop, train staff on, and analyze data collection systems to inform intervention planning and progress monitoring. Design and deliver professional development related to behavior management, de‑escalation, and trauma‑sensitive, culturally responsive practices. Serve as a Safety‑Care Trainer or district‑approved equivalent, guiding de‑escalation and safe response practices. Consult with families to promote consistency of behavioral strategies across school and home environments; conduct Home Assessments/FBAs as requested; ensure linguistically responsive communication. Provide behavioral consultation, staff coaching, and direct intervention during the ESY program; collaborate with TEAM members to ensure generalization and maintenance during summer. Assist in planning and implementing transition services for students moving between school levels and to adult services. Develop and oversee specialized programming and coordinate with external community agencies. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with the Ethics Code and Professional Standards for School‑Based Behavior Analysts. Supervisory Responsibilities Interview and train teachers and teaching assistants; plan, assign, and direct work related to student behavior and performance; provide clinical supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians under licensed staff to ensure adherence to professional and ethical standards. Qualifications Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field. Strong background in special education with emphasis on individuals with acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, behavior disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. Experience as a BCBA in a special education public school setting. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. Valid Massachusetts Teaching Certificate preferred (Grades 7‑12 Special Education Certificate or other related state license). Eligibility for Safety‑Care Trainer certification. Skills and Abilities Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and regulations; write reports and procedure manuals; present information to administrators, staff, parents, and the public. Ability to calculate percentages, frequencies, and durations to analyze behavioral data. Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to apply current research and theory; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and families; perform duties with awareness of district requirements and School Committee policies. Physical Demands Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, hearing; light lifting of 10‑20 pounds, occasional moderate lifting of 11‑40 pounds; travel between buildings; ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Work inside and outside of classrooms; noise level moderate to loud.
