Automotive Service Technician

Courtesy Ford Norfolk is looking for an Automotive Service Technician to join our growing team! The right candidate will have a strong service technician background, preferably with prior certifications. The day-to-day duties include performing work on specific repair orders and diagnosing what repairs need to be done.

Responsibilities

  • Complete repair and maintenance work listed on service tickets quickly and correctly
  • Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools to find problems
  • Fix and maintain key systems like the engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, suspension, steering, and A/C
  • Talk with the Service Advisor to explain what else the car may need and how long repairs will take
  • Do all warranty work by the book using manufacturer guidelines

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as an auto technician preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ford certification is a big plus
  • ASE or other OEM certification preferred
  • Previous experience at a dealership is helpful
  • Strong skills in diagnostics, electrical work, and engine repair
  • Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands
  • Able to use scan tools and other diagnostic equipment
  • Friendly, professional attitude and solid customer service skills
  • Willing to learn and keep up with new tools, technology, and repair methods
  • Team player who works well in a busy shop
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
