Solution Architect

Overview Steampunk is seeking a Solution Architect responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions that support client mission objectives. The Solution Architect works closely with program leadership, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into well-architected systems.This role provides technical leadership across the solution lifecycle, ensuring architectural consistency, integration across systems, and alignment with modern engineering practices such as Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and cloud-enabled architectures. The Solution Architect evaluates technology options, establishes architectural standards, and supports engineering teams in implementing resilient and scalable solutions. Contributions ResponsibilitiesServe as the Solution Architect for complex technology programs, guiding the design and implementation of scalable and secure solutionsDefine and communicate the overall solution architecture, ensuring alignment with mission needs, enterprise architecture standards, and industry best practicesCollaborate with program leadership, product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to translate functional and technical requirements into solution designsLead technical design discussions and architecture reviews to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability across systems and applicationsEvaluate technology options and architectural approaches, identifying advantages, risks, and tradeoffs to inform solution decisionsDefine and promote architecture standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency across systems and development teamsGuide engineering teams in implementing architecture patterns including microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-enabled solutionsSupport integration of applications, services, and data across enterprise platforms to ensure cohesive system architectureEnsure solutions incorporate security, performance, reliability, and scalability considerations throughout the development lifecyclePartner with DevSecOps teams to promote automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure-as-code practicesDevelop and maintain architecture artifacts including solution diagrams, technical documentation, and architecture roadmapsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and other technical staffCollaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations to ensure cohesive solution deliverySupport continuous improvement of engineering practices, architecture standards, and technical governance across the program Qualifications Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearanceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or technical leadership rolesDemonstrated experience designing and implementing complex software or enterprise technology solutionsExperience defining solution architectures for distributed systems, APIs, and microservices-based applicationsExperience supporting cloud-enabled architectures and modern infrastructure platformsExperience working within Agile and DevSecOps environments supporting modern software delivery practicesExperience integrating applications, services, and platforms across enterprise environmentsDemonstrated ability to evaluate technologies and recommend architectural approaches based on technical and mission requirementsDemonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience leading or guiding engineering teams through architecture design and implementation decisionsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to establish credibility with stakeholders and build consensus across technical and program teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce architecture documentation and technical design artifactsCloud certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar) preferredAI experience preferred About steampunkIdentity StatementAs part of the application process, you are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.
