Job Summary Position is responsible for performing all Hermann Life Flight helicopter maintenance activities, ensuring that all aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and hospital/department standards. The ideal candidate must hold a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic license, possess at least 1 year of helicopter experience, and be available to work a 4-day, 10-hour shift from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: (None) Licenses/Certifications: Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic’s license. Experience / Knowledge / Skills One (1) year of related experience. Principal Accountabilities Performs daily inspections of helicopters’ structure, engine systems, rotating components, control systems, and fluid levels to certify that the helicopters are structurally and mechanically airworthy. Performs scheduled inspections of helicopters in accordance with and to the satisfaction of Federal Air Regulations (AAIP Inspection System). Documents the number of operational hours on aircraft component parts; updates and certifies log book, maintenance manual, status sheets, and status board. Checks the number of operational hours documented on helicopter component parts against the Federal Air Regulations for aircraft, as well as the engine manufacturers’ standards, to determine degree of wear or parts approaching their operational life. Performs routine cleaning of aircraft, aircraft landing area, and aircraft servicing area. Performs regular physical inventory to assure adequate stock level of necessary parts and supplies; orders approved parts and supplies as needed. Assists in unloading patients as necessary. Communicates aircraft mechanical status to pilots, aircraft engineers, and manufacturers’ representatives as required to determine aircraft airworthiness or to solve technical problems. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
