Platform Validation and Debug Engineer

Salary: $89,976.8 - 94,868.8 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
• Strong understanding of computer and SoC architecture, including hardware/software interactions
• Hands-on experience with system validation, platform bring-up, and hardware debugging
• Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power measurement tools, and debuggers
• Ability to interpret board schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware design documentation
• Strong knowledge of BIOS, firmware, device drivers, and Windows or Linux operating systems
• Understanding of platform boot flows, initialization sequences, and power management
• Experience debugging across hardware, firmware, BIOS, driver, and operating system layers
• Scripting and programming proficiency in one or more of Python, C/C++, or PowerShell
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Preferred: At least two years of experience in system or silicon validation, platform debugging, or semiconductor product development
• Preferred: Experience with FPGA or pre-silicon emulation platforms
• Preferred: Familiarity with PCIe, USB, I2C, SPI, SATA, Ethernet, and memory subsystems
• Preferred: Experience building automation frameworks, debugging tools, or data analysis solutions
• Preferred: Knowledge of hardware description languages such as Verilog or SystemVerilog
• Preferred: Experience bringing up server, client, embedded, or datacenter platforms
• Preferred: Ability to independently lead technical investigations from issue identification through resolution

• Lead system bring-up, validation, and debugging from pre-silicon development through post-silicon product validation
• Investigate and resolve complex hardware, firmware, BIOS, operating system, and platform issues
• Perform root-cause analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and other hardware debugging tools
• Build and maintain debugging automation, validation frameworks, and troubleshooting utilities using scripting and programming languages
• Examine logs, traces, telemetry, and hardware captures to identify failure mechanisms and guide corrective actions
• Work with Design, Firmware, BIOS, Software, Validation, and Tools teams to address technical challenges
• Lead cross-functional investigations and share findings with engineering and leadership teams
• Document debugging procedures, findings, and best practices
• Support customer enablement and resolution of field issues
