Hospitalist Opportunity at Phoenix Indian Medical CenterAkicita Federal is hiring hospitalists to deliver high-quality inpatient care for the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), serving a federally operated hospital within the Indian Health Service in Phoenix, AZ. You will work alongside a dedicated hospital medicine team, managing a diverse inpatient population across day and night shifts, with no off-site call required. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for an underserved patient community in a fully supported hospital environment.Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care including admission workups, daily rounding, and discharge planning for hospitalized patientsDiagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions in an inpatient settingCoordinate care transitions with nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary services to ensure continuity and patient safetyDocument clinical encounters, orders, and patient progress accurately and in a timely manner within the hospital's electronic health record systemRespond to changes in patient status and lead rapid assessments for deteriorating patients on the inpatient unitParticipate in handoff communications at shift transitions to maintain care continuity across day and night coverageCollaborate with the Chief of Hospital Medicine and multidisciplinary teams to support quality outcomes and operational goalsShift Schedule:Day Shifts:7:00 AM - 3:00 PM7:00 AM - 6:00 PMNight Shift:6:00 PM - 7:00 AMHow Many Shifts Needed per Month:Day Shifts: 10-30 shifts/monthNight Shifts: 15-30 shifts/monthSalary: $520,000 - $530,400 a yearQualifications:Completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine or Family MedicineActive, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto RicoBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family MedicineCurrent BLS (Basic Life Support) certificationCurrent ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certificationAbility to pass an IHS-mandated security pre-clearance process, including fingerprint check and OIG exclusion list screening, prior to startWhat sets candidates apart:2 or more years of dedicated hospital medicine / hospitalist experience following residencyPrior experience practicing in a federal, tribal, or Indian Health Service medical facilityFamiliarity with caring for Native American or other underserved patient populationsDemonstrated ability to manage high-acuity inpatient caseloads independently, including overnight coverageExperience with inpatient quality improvement initiatives or performance-based care delivery modelsAbout Akicita Federal:Akicita Federal is a Native American-owned federal contractor delivering healthcare, clinical, IT, and program-support services across the Indian Health Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies.
