Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Patient ratio experience of 1:5 Charting system experience required Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care in the surgical stepdown unit. Nursing ratios are 1:5. The role requires critical thinking and effective communication skills. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, administering medications, and managing care plans. The nurse will be involved in cardiac telemetry and emergency response. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are essential skills. IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration are required tasks. The nurse will provide care for patients pre and post various cardiac procedures. Experience in managing IV insulin protocols is required. The role involves wound care and managing surgical drains. Knowledge of isolation precautions and safety protocols is necessary. Floating between departments may be required to meet facility needs. The nurse may be assigned holiday shifts and charge RN responsibilities as needed. This position involves some weekend commitments as part of the scheduling requirements.
