The work site is approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia, and no public transportation is available; personal transportation is required. Sign‑on incentive of $1,000 is available. Job Responsibilities Veterinary Technician A: The candidate will work alongside the nursing and clinical care teams to provide basic patient care, handling, and animal husbandry duties. Duties include treating patients under the direction of Certified Veterinary Technicians: patient monitoring, administering medications (oral, intramuscular, intracatheter), ocular medications via subpalpebral lavage, preparing patient medications, milking mares, feeding neonates, and preparing IV fluids. The role includes rotating through all treatment shifts (6:30a‑3p, 2:30p‑12:30p, and 9p‑7:30a). Veterinary Technician B: The candidate will provide nursing care to emergency and in‑house patients, assist with admissions and discharges, teach veterinary and veterinary‑technician students, submit comprehensive student evaluations to rotation supervisors, communicate patient needs with clinicians, assist with research projects, place patient charges in EMR daily, maintain patient medical records, and escort clients to their animals for visitation. Qualifications Veterinary Technician A: Enrolled in an accredited veterinary technician program or holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, or Equine Studies. Strong interest in applying to veterinary school or becoming a certified veterinary technician. 0–1 year of large animal handling experience preferred but not required. Must be able to perform strenuous work and tolerate exposure to weather, chemicals, and allergens, and work independently. Veterinary Technician B: Must be a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, or equivalent). Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively are required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Horse‑handling skills are preferred. Must be able to work well with others and possess computer skills. 1–3 years of experience required. Working Conditions High noise and dust, dirt, grease environment; requires extensive safety training; alternative work schedules; on‑call (beeper); protective equipment; exposure to chemicals; outdoor exposure to weather. Physical effort: standing or walking, bending, crouching, stooping; frequent lifting 25 pounds or more.
