Overview OB Technician Job Description OB Technician Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and certified OB Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be an integral part of the patient care team within the Labor and Delivery unit. You will assist nurses and physicians in providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers and newborns. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of obstetric procedures and sterile techniques. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room, assisting with deliveries, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients. Your attention to detail and commitment to patient safety will be essential to your success in this role. Responsibilities Assist physicians and nurses during labor and delivery procedures. Prepare and maintain sterile operating room environment. Set up and operate specialized equipment used in obstetrics. Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities. Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols. Float to other units as needed, in accordance with hospital policy. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience as an OB Technician. BLS certification. CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification. California state license in hand. No EMSA. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in sterile techniques and operating room procedures. Knowledge of obstetric equipment and instrumentation. Ability to monitor vital signs and recognize potential complications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Charting experience with Paragon (training provided).
