Merchandiser/Cashier

The Merchandiser/Cashier is responsible for producing items for sale, keeping the sales floor stocked, clean and organized and for assisting customers as needed.

Essential functions include: sorting, cleaning, tagging, and pricing donations for sale; performing duties as clerk/cashier as needed; assisting in the closing of the store and preparation of the next day's cash till daily; ensuring the counter and cash register area is clean and kept free of clutter; ensuring only authorized personnel have access to the counter; placing priced items on the racks and shelves in a timely manner; removing dated tags and separating for rag out; keeping miscellaneous items organized and neatly arranged; keeping clothing racks full, organized, and neatly arranged; receiving donations brought directly to the store by the general public; assisting with counting of cash each day as necessary; always acting courteously on communication with donors and prospective donors; and other duties as defined by the store manager.

Skills/technical knowledge include the skills/technical knowledge of this position can usually be taught on the job. Equipment needs include the use of sales equipment such as cash registers, calculator, pricing machines, etc. and use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, etc.
