Summary

The Food & Beverage Manager 1 ensures a high standard of appearance, hospitality, service, and cleanliness throughout all dining areas while supporting the overall supervision and operation of the Food & Beverage Department. This position provides leadership to F&B staff and takes primary responsibility for departmental scheduling, payroll and timecard review, staffing coordination, training documentation, labor monitoring, inventory oversight, and operational follow-up. The Manager works closely with the Director of Food & Beverage to maintain departmental systems, support financial and operational goals, and ensure consistent execution of Club standards. This position may also serve as Manager on Duty, provide floor leadership, and lead restaurant operations in the Director’s absence.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides and assists with the direct supervision of F&B service staff to ensure exceptional food and beverage service to Guests and Members.
  • Resolves Guest and Member concerns, coordinating resolution with Director of F&B, Executive Chef, or other members of the management team as appropriate.
  • Inspects F&B dining areas upon arrival, during work shift, and prior to end of work shift to ensure a clean and professional environment that meets Club standards.
  • Coordinates recruiting, onboarding and training schedules; tracks training completion and employee development.
  • Documents attendance/performance issues and leads initial coaching.
  • Manages payroll/timecard review, missed punches, overtime follow-up, and weekly departmental payroll approval.
  • Assists with forecasts, billing issues and operational analysis, including POS revenue reporting.
  • Performs daily POS closeout and tip distribution requirements.
  • Verifies proper distribution of tips and hours for employees and submits to the Accounting department.
  • Maintains employee scheduling, payroll and operational documentation; ensures deadlines and follow-up items are completed.
  • Ensures that all side-work is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
  • Assists with and directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel; relays pertinent information such as house count and menu changes, special member requests, etc.
  • Ensures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment, and fixtures; checks the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
  • Makes suggestions about improvements in dining room service procedures and layout.
  • Assists with training staff on all aspects of the POS system.
  • Assists with and ensures that the dining room and other club areas are secure at the end of the business day.
  • Oversees inventory, ordering and COGS follow-up.
  • Monitors weekly labor against business demand and budget; identifies overtime and staffing gaps before they impact operations.
  • Ensures that F&B staff performs all closing and side-work duties prior to end of shift.
  • Manages FOH schedules, shift coverage, PTO requests, and staffing levels.
  • Plans dining room set-up based on anticipated guest counts and client member needs.
  • Inspects employees to ensure that they are always in proper and clean uniforms.
  • Replenishes Guest and Member beverages as necessary; serves guests and members; cleans and bus tables as needed.
  • Monitors F&B service staff activity; takes appropriate action to assist staff during volumes of increased activity and ensures Member and Guest satisfaction.
  • Oversees inventory and ordering needs and coordinates purchasing follow-up with the Executive Chef, Director of Food and Beverage, and Purchasing Agent.
  • Leads restaurant operations when the Director is unavailable and provides MOD/floor coverage.
  • Works with the Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef to update, review and print weekly menu changes.
  • Assists in developing wine lists and beverage promotions.
  • Ensures that local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Assists F&B service staff in taking orders from Members and Guests; enters orders into point-of-sale (POS) system according to Club bookkeeping and check-out procedures.
  • Maintains and shares knowledge of Members’ F&B preferences; trains F&B service staff on these preferences to support Member and Guest experience/satisfaction.
  • Assists with private events conducted Club-wide.
  • Coordinates reservations, large parties and operational information.
  • Attends scheduled staff and management meetings.
  • May collaborate with Member Services Department to coordinate activities and presences to support overall guest and member experience.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned within the Food & Beverage Department.

 

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of food and beverage customer service experience.
  • Skill and proficiency in use of Club Essentials point-of-sale systems.
  • Knowledge of hospitality and private club environment, or similar hotel/lodging reservation activities.
  • Knowledge of bartending and/or mixology.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software applications.
  • Ability to enter data into and run reports from databases.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and to work independently.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in highly fluid and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audience.
  • Ability to work with a team and interact with others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of Stock Farm Club and member and guest information.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and image of the Stock Farm Club.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Preferred: Prior satisfactory performance as a team member of the Stock Farm Club.

 

Additional Requirements & Documentation

  • Must possess Food Safety certification.
  • Must possess responsible alcohol sales and service (TIPS) certification.
  • Must be able to pass employment background check and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license in accordance with the laws of the State of Montana; must be insurable under the company’s auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work variable schedule or irregular hours to include last-minute scheduling needs/changes and working split shifts based on needs of the Club operations and scheduled events.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekday, weekend, and evening/late evening hours as required.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions as needed and to walk on uneven ground.
  • Ability to perform same-day travel on Stock Farm Property and within local geographic region.
