Traffic Safety Program Specialist

Overview Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio Traffic Safety Office Report In Location - 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223 Hours Worked - 8:00am to 5:00pm Perks Multiple pay increases over your first years of service Free Parking Free Gym Access and Walking Path Daycare On-site Cafeteria On-site Responsibilities Research & analyze information for assigned program areas such as crash problem identification, best practices on programming used in other states, and additional countermeasures that can be used by OTSO; provide technical advice and recommendations to administrators regarding program implementation. Research & respond to complex or confidential inquiries received from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), other states and/or sub-recipients pertaining to traffic safety program areas. Formulate & implement program policies, operational procedures, and best practices; interpret federal, state & local laws to ensure compliance; communicate policy updates to all stakeholders; provide technical advice to aid administrator in decision making. Respond to programmatic issues or needs of staff and/or external customers; transmit decisions & directives regarding program rules and operating procedures. Qualifications Option 1: 36 months of training or 36 months of experience in business administration, management science or public administration. Option 2: Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; AND 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in supervisory, administrative and/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact. Option 3: Completion of undergraduate core program in an academic field commensurate with the program area to be assigned (traffic safety, city or regional planning, sociology, vehicle/mobility safety management or engineering, public health programming or related field); AND 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact.
