Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Security Officer. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing security by protecting NYU Langone Orthopedic patients, faculty, staff, students and visitors, and by preventing destructive acts to NYULOH property. Job Responsibilities Patrol the NYU Langone Orthopedic grounds and facilities to safeguard life and property. Perform security checks, enforce policies and procedures, recognize hazardous situations, and implement preventive measures. Demonstrate knowledge of all security posts including the operations center. Investigate and follow-up on incidents that compromise safety and security. Demonstrate investigative techniques, contact appropriate personnel, assist in emergencies, gather facts, and interview subjects, suspects, and witnesses, following department policies. Respond to needs and requests for assistance from the community and visitors. Provide a prompt and courteous response, demonstrating awareness of underlying issues. Prepare written reports as required: compose clear, complete, and accurate reports consistent with policies and submit them timely to the supervisor. Communicate effectively with all departments and the community. Maintain confidentiality of information, use appropriate communication techniques to defuse tense situations, and listen and respond professionally. Prioritize, complete, and communicate assigned work. Complete tasks by the end of the tour, coordinate departmental activities, and take on additional assignments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or the equivalent. Valid New York State Security Guard License. Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. Required Licenses Security Guard Reg‑NYS Preferred Qualifications Prior military or law enforcement experience. Fire Drill Conductor Certification is a plus. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
