Structural Project Engineer | Dallas, TX

Scope The Project Engineer 1 will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will be responsible for working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of structural systems for buildings and other structures. This position will be expected to work within the project’s monetary budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities Lead efforts for the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and JQIMEG standards Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions Provide in-process design reviews of structural system design, calculations, and specifications; Implement JQIMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet JQIMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within JQIMEG Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases Required Skills/Abilities Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structures Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Eagerness to adapt to new challenges Proficiency in the use of BIM software Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays Education and Experience Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred Professional Engineer (PE) License required 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises JQ-IMEG is committed to providing equal employment opportunities in all employment practices, without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation or gender identity), gender, national origin, disability, age, genetic information (including family medical history), parental status (including pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions including lactation), ethnic origin, hair type (including hairstyle or hair texture), citizenship status, marital status, veteran’s status, political affiliation, non‑merit-based factors, or any other characteristic protected by law.
