Elementary Specialist - Music

Job Description Title: Elementary Specialist - Music Classification: Instructional Support Hours/Day: 6.5 hours / up to 185 days Pay Grade 15: $20.43 - $21.53 (based on education and experience) Reports To: Special Area Teacher Leader/Principal Benefits: employee level medical coverage, dental, vision, sick and personal days. Qualifications High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and pass the paraprofessional test; or pass the Praxis Para Pro Assessment. Must hold a substitute permit. Basic computer skills; familiarity with email systems; ability to learn systems such as smart boards, document cameras, projection systems, sound systems, and digital technology. Responsibilities Teach and execute the NAFCS approved music curriculum. Maintain word wall, Composer of the Month, ICAN, and hallway bulletin boards by keeping them up to date. Implement and instruct provided plans in a timely manner to ensure cohesiveness in all elementary schools. Communicate with administration about the possibility of up to 3 extracurricular performances per year that you would be compensated for an extra 15 hours of time to plan and implement. Ensure that sub folder including all necessary materials, including lesson plans, is up to date and easy to find. Fill in as a substitute teacher during the day as needed. Provide support in other areas of the school as needed such as office support, classroom support, and other areas as determined by administration. Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration and/or other designee. Supervise students. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
