The Life Science Optics segment (LSO) has a new Optics Center of Excellence in West Henrietta, NY, focused on high‑end optics for life sciences and staffed by a team of experts in cleanroom and R&D environments. Scope of Role The Systems team works across several shifts in a cleanroom environment. As a Systems Technician II, you will support the daily operations, assemble subcomponents, and integrate them into medium to large scale systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Manage and meet daily production goals, escalating issues and concerns toward build plans as they arise. Support integration and characterization tests associated with lasers, optics, electronics, software, firmware, and sub‑assemblies. Work with members of engineering and leadership to achieve and align on common goals. Identify and report safety or quality issues to the appropriate parties. Recognize and tag non‑conforming material for further inspection by the quality department. Train incoming technicians on work processes and in‑house testing/tracking software. Learn multiple high‑technical product lines in the systems department. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Minimum AS degree in a technical field; preferably optics/photonics, or equivalent of a HS Diploma/GED with 2+ years in a cleanroom or manufacturing environment. If lacking a high school diploma, 3+ years in an optics or photonics field and/or 3+ years in a cleanroom environment. Basic computer skills. Strong technical aptitude and work ethic. Ability to perform consistent re‑occurring tasks over time. Adaptability to learn new skills and job functions. Team‑player mentality. Initiative to perform a variety of tasks to meet desired goals. Very good manual dexterity. May require standing or sitting for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting up to 15–45 lbs. as needed. Maintains a clean and orderly workstation. Capable of working in an ITAR registered facility. Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require. DESIRE TRAITS Direct experience with handling, processing, and cleaning of optics. Background working with hand tools, power meters, oscilloscopes, optical tables and other photonics mounts/mirrors/translation stages. Experience working with lasers, sub‑component assemblies, or optics. Good written and oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend work instructions. Total Rewards The compensation range for this position is $42,500.00 – $63,700.00, depending on experience. The position may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
