Job Summary

The role involves producing high-quality images, including advanced special procedures, by operating specialized equipment to ensure optimal clarity for physician diagnosis while minimizing patient discomfort and radiation exposure. A thorough understanding of interventional equipment, diagnostic radiographic principles, film/imaging processing, quality control, and radiation safety is essential. The position also requires efforts to reduce recovery risks and durations for patients, including initiating life support measures when necessary. Adherence to established Safety and Infection Control Policies is crucial. Additionally, the role involves developing an understanding of patients' physical and emotional states while maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality. The candidate should be comfortable working with individuals of all ages.

Key responsibilities include:

• Possessing extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology.
• Being familiar with operative terms and pharmacology.
• Understanding billing and coding for procedures.
• Adapting to and facilitating change.
• Performing tasks independently while exercising professional judgment in specialized procedures.
• Working flexible hours and being available for after-hours calls as needed.
• Scheduling and conducting diagnostic and interventional procedures in designated areas.
• Observing, evaluating, and participating in the educational processes of Radiologic Technology students.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal radiologic technology training from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited institution is required.
• A minimum of one year of experience as a staff radiologic technologist is preferred.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is mandatory.
• If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging, interventional radiology, or radiation therapy, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
• If working in South Dakota within interventional radiology, obtaining and maintaining a Vascular Interventional Technology (VI) certification within 24 months of hire is encouraged.
• For responsibilities in the Cardiac Cath Lab, obtaining and maintaining a Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CI) certification within 24 months of hire is also encouraged.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six weeks of employment, with re-certification as necessary.
