As a Recreational Therapy Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals while helping residents engage in meaningful activities that support their emotional, social, cognitive, and physical well-being. This internship is ideal for students who are looking to build practical experience in a supportive environment.

As a Recreational Therapy Intern, you'll assist the Resident Engagement and Life Enrichment teams in creating meaningful experiences for residents throughout the community. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the planning and facilitation of recreational and therapeutic activities
• Supporting resident participation and engagement in programs and events
• Building positive relationships with residents and families
• Assisting with outings, special events, and community activities
• Learning documentation and assessment processes related to recreational therapy
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members
• Observing and learning therapeutic approaches used with various resident populations
• Supporting residents living with dementia, mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and other complex conditions
• Assisting with activity preparation, set-up, and clean-up
• Participating in meetings, training opportunities, and professional development activities

Most importantly, you'll help residents experience purpose, connection, and joy throughout their day.

Job Type: Full time and part time available. Every other weekend and rotating holidays required.

Required Qualifications:

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program
• Ability to multi-task and take initiative.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
• Read, write, understand and communicate the English language.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals living with dementia, behavioral health challenges, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other specialized populations.
