Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med Surg ICU setting serving adult and pediatric patients (15+) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and general/cancer-specific surgeries
• Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators
• Read and interpret cardiac monitoring independently using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry (no monitor techs on unit)
• Maintain and manage lines and monitoring including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, and ICP monitoring
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU; participate in every-other-weekend and holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify distance
• Candidates currently working full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with neuro surgery or neurovascular interventions (e.g., thrombectomy programs)
• Familiarity with advanced hemodynamic support such as Impella or intra-aortic balloon pump
• Experience with CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy)
• Strong critical thinking skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to work alongside attending physicians, fellows, and residents
