Animal Services Operations Manager

Operations Manager Seeking an individual to lead with compassion while growing with purpose and changing lives of both two‑legged and four‑legged animals. Join our lifesaving team at an open‑intake, government‑based shelter serving a growing South Carolina community in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina. Responsibilities Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff; process employee concerns and problems; counsel; discipline; complete employee performance appraisals. Coordinate, assign, review work, and establish schedules; maintain standards; monitor status; inspect completed work; answer questions; give advice and direction as needed. Assist the Animal Services Director to plan, direct, and supervise the operations and personnel of the shelter operations division. Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and quality and safety standards. Maintain shelter records and inventory. Maintain animal health; evaluate behavior; monitor capacity; work with the Director and Veterinarian for health and capacity issues. Administer the managed intake program for owner release animals. Work with management staff to identify and implement long‑range programs and regularly review policies and procedures. Coordinate the foster program with fosters, volunteers, and management; train volunteers; increase volunteer opportunities. Respond to citizen concerns about animals under care. Conduct euthanasia for animals that are injured, medically unfit, or behaviorally unsuitable. Operate the county‑owned motor vehicle to attend adoption events, transport animals, and/or assist with onsite locations. Perform related work as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s Degree. Three (3) years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in an animal shelter, clinic, or kennel.
