Senior Software Architect – Self-Service Cloud Platform

Our partner is developing an intuitive, self-service cloud platform engineered to deliver powerful, reliable infrastructure to enterprise customers and internal engineering teams. As a Senior Software Architect, you will establish and evolve the architectural vision for the Cloud Portal, Management Console, and core supporting service ecosystems—spanning API gateways, account billing systems, provisioning automation, and next-generation cloud capabilities.

This individual contributor role balances technical leadership with continuous, high-impact hands-on development. You will establish system designs across distributed platforms while writing production-grade Python code, bridging backend services, Go microservices, and React/TypeScript user interfaces into a unified, scalable system. While not a management position, you will shape engineering priorities, mentor technical staff, and champion clean architecture patterns and best practices.

Working closely with product management, DevSecOps, infrastructure teams, and application developers, you will translate high-level business goals into concrete system designs and delivery roadmaps. If you thrive on designing scalable distributed systems, maintaining high standards for API and data model hygiene, and staying deeply engaged in code execution, this role offers an ideal balance of leadership and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, document, and maintain technical roadmaps and software standards across the cloud console, self-service portal, and foundational platform microservices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-volume production Python code to power core backend applications and platform services.
• Design resilient RESTful APIs, multi-tenant isolation architectures, and secure identity/access flows utilizing OAuth2 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Connect Python backend services with Go microservices and React/TypeScript frontends, standardizing API contracts, error handling, and cross-layer performance.
• Structure data storage solutions using relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., SQLAlchemy) to handle usage metering, billing workflows, tenant management, and resource provisioning.
• Translate product requirements into actionable epics and technical tasks, supporting modern SDLC and automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure safe, repeatable releases.
• Partner with DevSecOps engineers on Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) practices and secure architecture reviews.
• Lead architectural reviews, pair programming, and code reviews to mentor developers and articulate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Align application architectures with underlying cloud infrastructure, leveraging OpenStack, Ceph storage, and Kubernetes platforms.
• Continuously optimize codebases, libraries, and design patterns to minimize system complexity, improve fault tolerance, and accelerate developer velocity.

Required Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Python for backend development and API design, using modern frameworks (FastAPI, Flask) and libraries (SQLAlchemy, Jinja2).
• Extensive background designing and integrating RESTful web services, authentication protocols, and authorization frameworks (OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
• Proven track record architecting distributed systems or service-oriented architectures (SOA) in high-throughput production environments.
• Solid relational database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL), including schema design, query optimization, and ORM abstractions.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) alongside Git-centric CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills, with demonstrated capability to explain complex architectural trade-offs to cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on proficiency in Go (Golang) for developing and reviewing performant backend microservices.
• Familiarity with frontend development using React and TypeScript to collaborate effectively across full-stack boundaries.
• Technical experience with OpenStack APIs, Ceph distributed storage, or cloud infrastructure ecosystems.
• Expertise in multi-tenant SaaS architecture, tenant separation, consumption metering, and self-service provisioning workflows.
• Exposure to Odoo ERP/CRM integrations or open-source cloud management platforms.
• Commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD) using Pytest, with prior experience building public cloud or IaaS infrastructure offerings.

Target Compensation

• Canada: $145,000 – $175,000 CAD base salary + standard benefits + equity
• United States: $165,000 – $190,000 USD base salary + standard benefits + equity

Note: The salary range provided serves as a good-faith estimate based on internal benchmarking, market data, and role scope. Final compensation depends on individual candidate skill level, experience, and assessment.
