Columbus Cancer Care is seeking a compassionate and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality radiation therapy treatments while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional care throughout the treatment process.

Position Summary


The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering prescribed radiation treatments in accordance with physician directives, departmental policies, and established safety standards. This role involves accurately positioning patients, operating treatment and imaging equipment, entering and verifying treatment data within ARIA, and monitoring patients during treatment to ensure optimal outcomes and patient well-being.


The Radiation Therapist works closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and dosimetrists to implement treatment plans and support technical aspects of radiation therapy. Responsibilities also include performing CT simulations, preparing immobilization devices, providing patient education, maintaining accurate treatment documentation, and participating in routine equipment quality assurance activities.


As Columbus Cancer Care prepares to transition to a new Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD) location later this fall, this position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and evolving cancer center. The new location will feature the implementation of the Varian TrueBeam system, providing advanced treatment technology and expanded services for our patients.

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation treatments accurately and safely.
• Position patients according to physician prescriptions and treatment plans.
• Enter, verify, and maintain treatment parameters in ARIA.
• Operate radiation treatment and imaging systems.
• Monitor patients throughout treatment and respond appropriately to patient needs.
• Assist with CT simulations and treatment preparation procedures.
• Prepare and utilize patient immobilization devices.
• Educate patients regarding treatment procedures and expectations.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and equipment documentation.
• Participate in routine equipment checks and quality assurance activities.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
• ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy (RT(T)).

Preferred:

• Previous radiation therapy experience is helpful but not required.
