The School Nurse will be responsible for supporting the health and well-being of students throughout the school day and responding appropriately to medical needs as they arise. Key Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to students during the school day. Assess students who become sick or injured and determine appropriate next steps. Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, parental authorization, and school policies. Provide first aid and respond to medical situations as needed. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records. Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student health concerns when appropriate. Monitor students with allergies, asthma, diabetes, and other documented medical needs. Maintain and organize medications, first-aid supplies, and nursing office materials. Assist with health screenings and required school health documentation. Follow established health, safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and healthcare providers as appropriate. Help promote a safe and healthy school environment. Qualifications Previous nursing experience required. School, pediatric, family medicine, or related nursing experience preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification preferred. Strong assessment and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Caring, patient, responsible, and dependable. Strong organizational and documentation skills.
