Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Facility Overview Located in Albemarle, NC, approximately one hour from Charlotte, NC 109 licensed beds No trauma designation Non-teaching hospital with no residents or students Advanced Primary Stroke Center Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles outside the home unit Unit Details 16 beds Minimum of 2 years Emergency Department RN experience required (Resource Team requirement) First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered Patient Population and Common Diagnoses Care for both pediatric and adult patients Common conditions include COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma Licensure and Certifications Required RN licensure with BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (CPI may be obtained within 30 days of start); TNCC certification preferred Required Skills Proficiency in general Emergency Department nursing skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of critical care drips, ventilator care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and patient assessments Department Support CNA assistance available Charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments IV/VAT Team available as an ancillary service, not present daily Respiratory Therapist available 24/7 Hospitalist coverage 24/7 Emergency Department physician team on site Bedside and central telemetry monitoring Technology and Equipment Electronic Medical Record system: Epic IV pumps: Alaris Medication dispensing system: Omnicell Patient monitors: Phillips Unit-specific equipment includes general med-surg tools and telemetry monitors Floating Requirements Floating may be required based on regional needs and can include multiple facilities within the region, all within scope of practice; candidates unwilling to float should decline Region includes various facilities such as Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, freestanding Emergency Departments, Lake Norman, and Central Division hospitals If floating occurs mid-shift, travel time between facilities will be compensated and counted as work time Orientation New Employee Orientation (NEO) Two days of departmental orientation Scheduling Details Weekend rotation every other weekend No on-call duties Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days off may be approved excluding holidays; if contracted hours are not met, additional time must be added to the end of the contract Additional Information Scrub color: Navy Free parking available Shift Requirements Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI TNCC certification preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
