Wikipedia Article Contributor

Demonstrated experience writing and publishing Wikipedia articles required. Portfolio of existing Wikipedia contributions required. Strong knowledge of Wikipedia core content policies including Notability, Neutral Point of View (NPOV), Verifiability, and No Original Research required. Familiarity with Wikipedia Articles for Creation (AfC) workflow required. Proficiency in wikitext markup and citation formatting required. Strong research skills with the ability to identify credible and independent sources required.

Conduct notability assessments to determine whether the company meets Wikipedia’s General Notability Guidelines. Review existing third-party coverage and identify potential conflicts of interest or approval challenges. Compile and verify a minimum of 5–10 reliable, independent third-party sources. Exclude promotional materials, press releases, and company-owned content from primary sourcing. Provide source lists with URLs and publication dates for review. Draft Wikipedia articles using neutral language and proper encyclopedic formatting. Structure articles with lead sections, company history, products/services, milestones, and references. Format articles using proper wikitext markup, citations, categories, and infoboxes. Submit drafts for review and incorporate stakeholder feedback. Manage article submission through the Articles for Creation process or direct publishing when eligible. Monitor article reviews and respond to editor feedback or revision requests. Revise articles as needed to achieve successful publication approval. Provide summary reports regarding submission outcomes and editorial decisions. Ensure compliance with Wikipedia paid editing disclosure requirements.

Wikipedia account with autoconfirmed or extended-confirmed status preferred. Experience editing company, organization, or business-related Wikipedia articles preferred. Familiarity with conflict of interest guidelines and paid editing disclosures preferred.

Excellent written communication and editing skills required. Attention to detail and policy compliance skills required. Ability to manage multiple revisions and editorial feedback required. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Instructional Design, or related field preferred. Relevant Wikipedia editing and publishing experience required.
