Phlebotomist – We Train Qualifications High School diploma or GED Ability to work a flexible schedule Interest in making a difference in the world Obtain required state licensures or certifications where applicable Patient, reliable, and committed to keeping donors comfortable and happy Primary Responsibilities Assist in determining the suitability of donors. Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality. Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions. Monitor donor and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality. Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines. Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment. Occupational Demands (Form #74) Work performed in a plasma center. Exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Exposure to extreme cold below 32°F while working in a plasma freezer. Personal protective equipment required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, cold‑gear). Work performed standing for 6–8 hours per day. Bending and twisting neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day. Frequent hand movement with precise coordinated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on heels infrequently. May walk up to 6–8 hours per day. Light lifting of up to 15 lbs. with a maximum lift of 50 lbs. May reach below shoulder height. Hearing acuity essential. Color perception, near and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Must understand and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks. Must listen to and understand information presented verbally and in writing. Must perform within guidance of oral or written instructions. Relate sensitive information to diverse groups.
