What You’ll Do (Major Duties) Coordinate pre‑employment steps, help new hires complete onboarding requirements, monitor progress, and keep communication flowing. Conduct New Employee In‑Processing, assist with pay processes, and resolve routine HR questions on‑site via walk‑ins, calls, and emails. Provide individual support with benefits, from health insurance to retirement plans, assist with Open Season enrollment, and guide employees through qualifying life events. Process and maintain accurate HR data in official HR systems—ensuring regulatory compliance and timely updates. Connect employees and managers with the right HR resources, help resolve discrepancies, and deliver excellent customer service. VISN 16 Locations VISN 16, also known as the South Central VA Health Care Network, includes medical centers in the following cities: Jackson, Mississippi Gulfport, Mississippi Biloxi, Mississippi Alexandria, Louisiana Shreveport, Louisiana New Orleans, Louisiana Fayetteville, Arkansas Little Rock, Arkansas North Little Rock, Arkansas Muskogee, Oklahoma Houston, Texas Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Your role as HR Navigator will be on‑site at a medical center in one of these dynamic cities, working directly with the team that serves our Veterans. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/06/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: For GS‑5 Level You must have ONE of the following: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS‑4, such as: Assisting with collecting documentation or reviewing forms for accuracy Providing customer service via phone, email, or walk‑in support Using automated systems to enter or retrieve data Supporting administrative processes like payroll documentation, form completion, or employee inquiries Preparing correspondence and arranging meetings to support operations Education: Four years above high school Combination: A combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year is creditable). One full academic year (30 semester hours) beyond the second year equals 6 months of specialized experience. For GS‑6 Level You must have ONE of the following: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS‑5, such as: Serving as an onboarding point of contact for selectees, coordinating pre‑employment requirements Reviewing personnel documents, identifying discrepancies Providing benefits guidance (health, life, dental, vision, retirement, etc.) Conducting benefits enrollment, reviewing forms for compliance and accuracy Providing HR customer support, triaging inquiries Submitting/tracking HR troubleshooting tickets Using HR information systems to upload documents, maintain data integrity, and process actions Education: A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
