Medical Director - Global R&D Organization

Alveus Therapeutics is seeking a Medical Director, to join our global R&D organization.

We are looking for a physician with strong hands-on clinical development experience, who enjoys working at the intersection of science, medicine, and study execution.

In this full-time role, your initial focus will be supporting Phase 1 and 2 studies, contributing across the study lifecycle from protocol and Investigator’s Brochure development through study conduct, medical monitoring, safety oversight, data interpretation, and clinical reporting.

You will work closely with our two in-house physicians and collaborate across Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Data Management, Biostatistics, Pharmacovigilance, CROs, investigators, and study sites to deliver scientifically rigorous, operationally feasible, and inspection-ready clinical studies.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the details of clinical development while maintaining a clear line of sight from protocol to final report. Required Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD) required; PhD and experience in obesity, metabolic disease, endocrinology, or related fields are an advantage.
• 5+ years of clinical development experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO settings.
• Hands-on experience supporting the design, execution, medical oversight, and reporting of clinical studies; Phase 1study experience is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of GCP, clinical operations, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing and reviewing key clinical documents, including protocols,
• Investigator’s Brochures, Clinical Study Reports, and medical monitoring plans.
• Ability to interpret clinical data and provide clear medical guidance to study teams and investigators.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the execution of clinical studies, initially focusing on Phase 1 and Phase 2 studies
• Contribute to the development, review, and maintenance of protocols, Investigator’s
• Brochures, Clinical Study Reports, medical and safety monitoring plans, and regulatory documentation
• Provide medical input throughout study start-up, conduct, close-out, data review and reporting.
• Serve as Medical Monitor or support medical monitoring activities across assigned studies.
• Act as a trusted medical resource for investigators, study sites, and cross-functional development teams.
• Collaborate closely with Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Data Management,
• Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, CROs, and study sites to ensure high-quality study delivery.
• Participate in Safety Review Committees, dose-escalation decisions, medical data reviews, and other activities supporting the safe and efficient conduct of clinical studies.
• Support analysis, interpretation and communication of clinical study results.
• Contribute to broader clinical development activities across the Alveus portfolio as needed.

Alveus is a global organization with R&D teams in both the United States and Denmark.
