Prep Cook

Daystar Christian Television Network is seeking an experience Prep Cook for onsite Scratch Cafe. The Prep Cook responsibilities include prepare ingredients and menu items according to approved recipes and production needs. Must be a Christian committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.


Required Duties/Responsibilities:

• Wash, cut, chop, slice, portion, season, and properly store ingredients.
• Prepare proteins, vegetables, sauces, dressings, sides, Grab & Go items, and other café products as assigned.
• Follow established recipes, portion sizes, presentation standards, and preparation procedures to maintain consistency.
• Complete daily prep lists within the required timeframe.
• Check ingredient quality and freshness before preparing or serving food.
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store all food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
• Maintain proper food temperatures and follow all food-safety and sanitation requirements.
• Prevent cross-contamination by following proper food-handling procedures.
• Keep prep tables, cutting boards, equipment, utensils, refrigerators, and work areas clean and sanitized.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and properly storing food deliveries when needed.
• Notify the Cafe' Manager of low inventory, damaged products, equipment concerns, food-quality issues, or potential shortages.
• Minimize food waste by following proper portioning, storage, and production procedures.
• Assist cooks and other cafe' team members during busy service periods.
• Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen throughout the entire shift.
• Complete assigned opening, daily, and closing cleaning responsibilities.
• Follow cafe' policies, procedures, health-code requirements, and management instructions.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with coworkers, management, guests, and other departments.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a cooperative, team-focused work environment.
• Be flexible and willing to learn new recipes, procedures, equipment, and operational changes.
• May assist Barista with preparing coffees, smoothies, specialty drinks (as directed).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

• High school diploma required.
• 3-5 years proving culinary / food prep experience required.
• Vocational school / Culinary coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, required.
• Prior related experience required.

• Prolong periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
• Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours.
• Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related skills.

• The Prep Cook is expected to arrive on time and ready to work, complete assigned responsibilities, communicate concerns promptly, follow management direction, and support the team in providing guests with a clean, welcoming café and consistently high-quality food.
