The Director of Primary Care is responsible for overseeing the provision of outstanding, patient-focused care within our organization's Primary Clinics. This position guarantees adherence to HRSA standards while promoting integrated care models that cater to the medical, behavioral, and social needs of Atlanta's most at-risk communities.
In this role, the Director leads the Clinical Team and acts as a mentor and educator for physicians and nurse practitioners, encouraging their professional development and clinical proficiency. Collaboration across various departments is essential to ensure cohesive, integrated care and compliance with all health system regulations, while actively supporting our organization's values of compassion and inclusivity.
Minimum Qualifications- MD or DO: Must hold board certification in a primary care specialty.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in a healthcare environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity; experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is highly desirable.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in population health, chronic disease management, and integrated care frameworks.
- Provides mentorship and development for physicians and nurse practitioners, enhances clinical teams, and manages budgets to ensure operational efficiency.
- Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote integrated care models that address the medical, behavioral, and social needs of underserved populations, while ensuring compliance with HRSA standards and organizational objectives.
- Possesses strong strategic, analytical, and program development capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in leading interdisciplinary teams and implementing process improvements.

Following the Civil War, four pioneering Sisters of Mercy arrived from Savannah to Atlanta and founded Saint Joseph's Hospital. When the hospital moved to the suburbs a century later, dedicated volunteer physicians, nurses, and staff took to the streets of downtown Atlanta to provide care to the most vulnerable. This compassionate mission laid the groundwork for what is now our organization.
In 2012, Saint Joseph's Hospital transitioned to Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, while our organization continued under the Saint Joseph's Health System, focusing on serving the poor.
Over the past decade, we have experienced significant growth, adapting to new patient and community needs. In 2017, we opened a new clinic in Chamblee to serve the expanding Hispanic community, and in 2022, we renovated and expanded our Decatur Street clinic to better serve our patient population.
